Domain Location Checker
Find out exactly where any domain is hosted — IP address, city, country, ISP, and timezone, all free.
Server location is just one signal.
A single lookup is a start. SEOJuicer's full audit checks meta tags, keywords, indexability, and more across your entire domain, not just its host.
What is the Domain Location Checker?
The Domain Location Checker is a free tool that resolves any domain to its IP address and looks up where that IP is physically hosted, returning the city, region, country, ISP, ASN, and timezone behind it. Instead of guessing at a site's infrastructure from indirect clues, you get a direct geolocation lookup built on the same publicly available IP registration data that maps address ranges to physical regions around the world.
It exists because hosting location has real, practical implications: it can explain why a site loads faster for visitors in one region than another, it's a useful first signal when thinking through data-residency questions for regulations like GDPR, and it's genuinely handy competitive research when you're curious how a rival site or potential hosting provider is set up. It works on any public domain, which makes it just as useful for troubleshooting your own infrastructure as it is for researching someone else's.

How this data is collected
When you submit a domain, the tool performs a standard DNS lookup to resolve it to its current IP address, the same step any browser takes before it can connect to a site. That IP address is then checked against a geolocation database that maps IP ranges to the region where they're registered and typically deployed, returning an approximate city, region, country, ISP, autonomous system number, and timezone for the server behind that address.
This reflects a live DNS resolution and geolocation lookup at the moment you run the check, not a fixed or historical record — a domain served through a CDN, load balancer, or multiple regional servers can return a different IP, and therefore a different location, on a later check. IP-based geolocation is generally reliable at the country level and reasonably accurate at the region or city level, but it's an approximation based on registration data rather than the exact physical coordinates of a data center.
Best practices for reading hosting location
A few habits worth keeping before you act on what a lookup turns up.
- Remember location affects load times, not just curiosity. Visitors closer to the server generally see faster response times, all else being equal, which makes hosting location a real performance lever.
- Expect a CDN to mask the true origin. Sites behind Cloudflare or another CDN often show the CDN's edge location in a lookup, not the origin server's actual physical location.
- Use hosting location as a first pass for compliance checks. Where data is physically stored can matter for regulations like GDPR, so this is a useful starting point, not a full legal assessment.
- Expect results to shift for load-balanced or multi-region sites. A domain served from multiple data centers can return a different location on different checks, which is expected rather than an error.
